It was highlighted at the end of 2018 that a lot of families, individuals, children and the homeless were going without food. As a result, the centre was created to assist those in need in the Mount Wellington, Ellerslie and Panmure area.
To accommodate this crisis in the area we started Community lunches, (with the support from Countdown) organising small parcels of fruit, vegetables and bread for people who attend.
It is a Community run initiative. We have an amazing team of volunteers who live in Mount Wellington. They assist with the cooking and making up small food parcels for the community lunches who come every week. They are such an asset to the community lunches and we appreciate everything they do.
We also run various programmes designed for mothers, women, walking groups and craft mornings. We offer pastoral care for anyone who requires it, assistance with WINZ and seeking employment.
We offer budgeting services and hopefully a driver’s licenses programme. New programmes will be developed over time when the need arises from our community.
