The Maungarei Community Christian Trust (MCCT) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2002 to facilitate the improvement of the social, cultural, spiritual and economic lives of the people of Mt Wellington. It desires to empower people, assisting them to recognise their abilities and to educate them in ways to improve their situation. It assists them to make “good” decisions for their futures and their dependents futures, thus improving their emotional, spiritual and physical qualities of life while at all times valuing the differences of people.
The MCCT aims to identify the skills, strengths and resources of the community and help to direct these for the benefit of the whole community and to support existing programmes and community networks in the development of a better community environment.
The MCCT accesses and utilises available funding from Government, Local Government, philanthropic organisations and charities for the benefit of the community, developing and motivating the people to move towards independence and improving the community support systems to develop a strong independent internal sense of community care and concern.
The MCCT works closely with the Mt Wellington Community Church and it is this association that enables it to draw on a pool of reliable, trustworthy and passionate people willing to serve - not because they have to, but because they want to. This association also allows us to access a wide range of facilities and equipment which reduces our cost and overhead structure significantly.
MCCT is by name and nature a Christian organisation. The Christian faith is our motivation (why we do what we do), our guide in all activities (how we do what we do), and our source of inspiration (what we do).
